Just around the corner (from the Conference Venue)
The Basilica of San Lorenzo is a prime example of Renaissance architecture. It was created by Brunelleschi, with contributions made from other masters like Donatello and Bronzino.Santa Maria Novella Church is another jewel located just a few steps from our venue. It is a beautiful example of Italian Gothic and it host operas by Giotto, Masaccio, Brunelleschi, and more. The square in front has recently been renewed.
The museum adjacent to the church is home to other important works of art and the splendid Green Cloister frescoed by Paolo Uccello and his school.
Just a short distance from the church the Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella, displays its famous perfumes, soaps and fragrances in a Neogothic setting.
The Medici Chapels is a magnificent mausoleum located only 600 meters from the Conference Venue: a true expression of the power of Medici Family, who commissioned artworks to the best artists of their time such as Michelangelo.
It is really worth skipping your lunch to visit this museum.
The Mercato Centrale San Lorenzo, a 5 minute walk from the Conference Venue, is one of the most important and folkloristic markets in Florence. It is a perfect location for your lunch break. There are a number of stands where you can indulge in the culinary delights of Florence and where you can buy a variety of Tuscan gastronomic specialties. There are several typical trattorias and wine bars located in the alleys around the neighborhood.
All around the market area are stands making up the San Lorenzo Street Market. Just walk around and enjoy bargaining for clothes, handmade leather goods, and souvenirs to bring home.
Check out these locations on the map below, where we have added a few more spots (green) worth visiting. |
